3 Acronyms You Need to Know

3 Mistakes to Avoid
3 Acronyms You Need to Know
1. HUD = Dept of Housing and Urban Development
This independent department is responsible for overseeing all areas of the home buying process and for assuring protection to the consumer and compliance from lenders. They have produced a booklet called “Shopping for Your Home Loan” which contains extensive information about loans and understanding your Good Faith Estimate. Lenders are required to provide this booklet to you. We think this information is so helpful that we provide it to all of our buyer clients and you may obtain a FREE copy by clicking here. 2. GFE = Good Faith Estimate
Your lender is now required to provide you with a very accurate estimate of the cost to obtain a loan. Your closing figures must remain very close to the GFE to avoid “surprises” at the closing table. Understanding how your money will be spent is very important and explained extensively in the booklet offered above.
3. EBA = Exclusive Buyer Agent
In order to be assured that the real estate agent you select is working for you with no seller conflict of interest, you should rely on using an exclusive buyer’s real estate agent. They should work in an agency that just represents buyers to further assure your complete interest. To find an exclusive buyer’s agent nationally, click here.
